Why we exist -
Simon’s story
I’ve seen first-hand people becoming displaced from society. I’ve lost people close to me, so I know what loss feels like. I’ve experienced people unravelling to the point where they are excluded from the rest of us.
I founded Beyond Food for those people. I founded Beyond Food because I don’t think society has to crumble. In our society, 80% of those convicted are re-offenders. Currently, there are 1.5m unemployed people in the UK. Youth unemployment costs the government £2.9bn per year. Mental health challenges cost the UK £118bn per annum. It doesn’t have to be that way.
Our beliefs
We believe in the deep-rooted worth and potential of every individual. Time and time again, we’ve seen the impact expert support and big-hearted challenge can have. We believe that by helping our participants find a new version of themselves, we are not only helping them but also creating a more compassionate society.
