What we do
We are a charity providing training and support to people who have been impacted by homelessness, mental health, addiction, those with a criminal record or who are at risk of homelessness.
Our programmes focus on getting people into fulfilling and meaningful employment, thus breaking the cycle of homelessness, unemployment and poverty.
How we do it
Our solution is based around simple, good food; cooking it and serving it.
At Beyond Food, we aim to inspire people to begin the process of developing skills and attitudes that can become the foundation for their work and life for the future. We bring freshly cooked food into the lives of vulnerable people, as it plays a crucial role in helping individuals to stand on their own two feet.
Learning the basics of cooking, equips people in identifying building blocks to create lives full of purpose. Good food, kitchen skills and harnessing a sense of vitality, lay the groundwork towards helping individuals to contribute and belong in society.
Who we help
At Beyond Food, we are immensely proud to play a crucial role in supporting and educating vulnerable adults across all London boroughs, who have been at risk of or have experienced homelessness, to enable them to gain meaningful employment. Each year, we support over 100 people through our programmes. Our beneficiaries have multiple and complex barriers to overcome, including health problems, addictions, lack of housing and dependency on benefits. Low self-esteem, lack of confidence and lack of hope, opportunity and purpose exacerbate most of these practical difficulties. Beyond Food has devised innovative programmes, as a sustainable way to make a real and lasting difference to our beneficiaries’ lives.
Beyond Food having Brigade Bar+Kitchen as an ecolab for beneficiaries to secure hands-on training and support, enables the charity to stay close to their learning and progression and immediately address the persistent barriers to work progression. Working with PwC and partners such as Searcy’s provides us with enormous opportunities to embed our ethos further.
PwC owns the building that Brigade Bar+Kitchen and Beyond Food Foundation reside. PwC Foundation is generously providing the beautiful old fire station building, which is a professionally run kitchen and restaurant, which also has a training kitchen and function rooms.

A note from Simon...
Since 2005, I have seen first-hand the power of food as a catalyst to break the cycle of homelessness and poverty.
As a tangible, valued contributor to our local London community and wider society, Beyond Food directly impacts the lives of hundreds of vulnerable people every year.
Over recent years and thanks to a unique multi-sector collaboration model, our reputation and good work have grown extensively. Today, the quality of our training programmes, the expertise of our team and our passion for 'good food doing good' makes Beyond Food second to none.
Employment does not only offer financial stability; it provides purpose. It enables each of us, regardless of our background, to become part of something bigger than ourselves. This purpose is, I believe, an integral part of being human.
It's a significant time for us. Increasing support from individual donors will play a critical role in achieving our goals. We will continue to build strategic partnerships with corporate organisations, trusts and foundations, and government bodies.
I hope you agree and will consider supporting our life-changing work. Your lead in supporting us will pave the way for others to follow, ensuring we continue to fulfil our essential mission. Your help will enable those most in need on our doorstep to leap social isolation to a meaningful life.
Thank you for your interest in Beyond Food and our mission.
