United Kitchen Apprenticeship

The United Kitchen Apprenticeship is two-year paid apprenticeship programme. Apprentices spend their first year working in the professional kitchen at Brigade, followed by a one-year supported work placement with one of our employer partners.


First year programme outcomes

  • Work in the kitchen at Brigade Bar & Bistro (40 hours per week including learning hours)
  • Study towards a Level 2 Diploma in Professional Cookery delivered by HIT Training
  • Learn from experts during Workshops and Master classes focusing on specific skills
  • Participate in 1:1 and group mentoring, sessions to support with personal administration and employability skills
  • Assist with community projects working with corporate firms and local organisations
  • Receive regular support from BF staff or any personal matters or benefits/housing related issues

Second year programme outcomes

  • Secure a paid work placement for at least a year with one of our employer partners
  • Receive regular and continued support from Beyond Food staff for any personal matters or benefits/ housing related issues

Eligibility

  • Must have completed both Freshlife and Get Stuck In
  • Open to people of all ages, across all boroughs, who have been at risk of, or have experienced, homelessness
  • A commitment to making a long-term life change and to completing the programme
  • A passion for cooking
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Entry Level 3 Literacy & Numeracy
  • No prior attainment of NVQ Level 2 or higher

Out Front

Out Front is a two- year paid apprenticeship programme that will give participants the skills and experience that they will need to work in the Front of House hospitality sector. Apprentices spent their first year working at Brigade, followed by a one year supported work placement with one of our employer partners.


First year programme outcomes

  • Gain work experience in the Brigade Bar & Bistro.
  • Experience high quality training from our course partners
  • Learn from experts during Workshops and Master classes focusing on specific skills
  • Participate in 1:1 and group mentoring, sessions to support with personal administration and employability skills
  • Assist with community projects working with corporate firms and local organisations
  • Receive regular support from BF staff or any personal matters or benefits/housing related issues
