The Beyond Food Thacker Awards
Last week we held an event for apprentices; Dixie, Mel and Paul who have just finished their 6-month placements with our partner restaurant, Brigade Bar & Bistro. From here, the apprentices move on to the next stage of their placements at high-end restaurants around London. Paul is going to the world famous Savoy hotel, Mel will be working at Zetter Townhouse working alongside Michelin star chef Bruno Loubet. Last but not least, Dixie will be working on the exclusive directors and client private dining floor at the Rothschild Bank HeadQuarters in the City
The ceremony involved canapés; ingredients chosen and created by the apprentices. We had Pressed Watermelon with goats cheese and tapenade, Chicken caesar Vol Au Vents, Sun dried tomato and wild mushroom Arancini and Saffron flavoured Quail eggs, which were enjoyed by over 40 guests.
After a very inspiring speech from our founder Simon Boyle, the apprentices were awarded a certificate for their achievements over the last 6 months. We then had a special guest appearance from one of our longest serving supporters Ann Machin from Jakafraik Properties, who spoke mostly about the help our apprentices recently gave towards her wedding; they baked eight scrumptious cakes!
It was a really uplifting afternoon and we wish Dixie, Mel and Paul the best of luck with the second part of their inspiriting journeys.
